Death the Kid confronts Chrona aboard the Ghost Ship Nidhogg. The ship was eventually destroyed. Chrona took this opportunity to escape, however, Kid wasn’t about to let her go. While chasing her in the sea, the mist clears and Kid sees a spectacular sky. Totally distracted, he forgot about Chrona. Later, he returns to Shibusen to talk to his father about something troubling the captain of the Ghost Ship mentioned. Meanwhile, Dr. Stein starts suspecting Medusa. Medusa’s primary concern at the moment, however, was about the sudden disappearance of the black blood from Maka.

“I am Shinigami. I won’t give you the freedom to kill.”

Death the Kid and his weapons were dispatched by Shibusen to investigate a village that was consumed - as if bitten off, by a Kishin. They soon discover that the one responsible for this massacre is a ghost ship called Nidhogg. Kid decides to board the deadly cruise but yankee Liz seems to have second thoughts. During the initial battle against the captain of the ship she gets separated from the two. Through the help of human ghosts she slowly makes her way back, just in time for the arrival of the real big boss - demon blade wielder Chrona.

“What’s really important is right here.”

Tsubaki enters the demon blade’s soul to defeat her brother Masamune. Outside, Black Star was silently waiting for her return, unaware of people bludgeoning him with sticks left and right. Back in Shibusen, Maka and the rest were worriedly watching the events through the magical mirror of Shinigami. If Tsubaki is lucky, she’ll be able to absorb her very first soul, but then, she didn’t know her brother harbored such deep grudge against her that he’s willing to stop at nothing.

“I can’t keep up with this era?”

Black Star and Tsubaki left Shibusen to collect the soul of the fallen sword, Masamune. Arriving at the village, Black Star started harassing people which eventually drew everyone’s attention to him and the cursed star tattoo on his right shoulder. The angry mob threatens to jeopardize the duo’s original mission, so the two of them went to hiding for a while. There Black Star briefly explained the history of the Star Clan, a well-known family of murderers whose obsession for money eventually turned them into soul eaters. A short while later Masamune appears, possessing the fearful soul of a child. Black Star managed to force his wavelength into the kid’s body to pull Masamune out. Tsubaki catches the black sword, and in an instant she enters its soul which turned out to be her older brother’s.
