“I am Shinigami. I won’t give you the freedom to kill.”

Death the Kid and his weapons were dispatched by Shibusen to investigate a village that was consumed - as if bitten off, by a Kishin. They soon discover that the one responsible for this massacre is a ghost ship called Nidhogg. Kid decides to board the deadly cruise but yankee Liz seems to have second thoughts. During the initial battle against the captain of the ship she gets separated from the two. Through the help of human ghosts she slowly makes her way back, just in time for the arrival of the real big boss - demon blade wielder Chrona.

What a fun episode. Liz is so adorable. She totally stole the stage from Death the Kid here. Also, it’s cool that we saw a bit of the Thompson sisters’ past lives and how they ended up as Kid’s weapons. I’m not sure, however, if the manga has a longer and much more detailed version of it. Perhaps one of these days I’d really sit down and read it.

There’s also that funny scene where Shinigami-san tries to marry him off to different women. What an aristocratic family.

Anyway, I’m totally excited about the fight between Kid and Chrona, though I can guess it will be interrupted at some point since I think Chrona’s ultimate adversary in the end are Maka and Soul. Still, I’d like to see the extent of Kid’s powers being Shinigami’s son. Based on the previews, Kid seems to have the upper hand. Sadly though, he didn’t have much awesomeness to show in the past episodes. I recall, however, that there was this one time he displayed an advanced technique or something to Soul and Black Star when they confronted him at the gates of Shibusen. Perhaps he isn’t just.. showy?
