“I’ll do my best to become a good wife to you. So please, don’t abandon me.”
Today’s my off, so I decided to catch up on some shows I recently neglected. Soul Eater’s next by the way. Long post after the cut.
In episode 13, Naoki introduced Christine to his mother. Their first meeting was a disaster, for Irie-mama loves no one else for her son but Kotoko. She tries to convince Christine that Nao is a cold-hearted bastard by citing Kotoko’s experiences with him. Meanwhile, Kotoko decides that she has to give up on Nao, and directs her full attention to sweet and gentle Kin-chan. One evening however, Kin-chan lost his cool and tried to force his marriage proposal to her, and while struggling from his embrace Kotoko called out Nao’s name. Later, Kotoko realizes that she still loves Naoki and accepts the possibility that she may have to be a single woman her entire life. While walking aimlessly out on the streets she looks up and sees her beloved man gazing fixedly at her.
In episode 14, Naoki and Kotoko made up by kissing in the rain, and immediately after that Naoki proposes to her in front of her father, Irie-mama, and Yuki. With everything finally cleared between the two of them, Naoki meets up with Christine to apologize and break their engagement, while Kotoko faces angry Kin-chan and explains this rather surprising turn of events. Two weeks later they were married and Yuki revealed that the one who kissed Kotoko in the Romance Village was actually Naoki.
In episode 15, Naoki and Kotoko went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Kotoko is determined to become a good wife and keep her attractive husband from waking up and realizing he made a horrible mistake by marrying her. However, this proved to be difficult upon meeting Mari and her timid husband. Mari is instantly charmed by Nao, and does everything she could do to keep him away from Kotoko. Kotoko becomes more and more frustrated and when the last day finally comes, she became desperate. Mari, however, isn’t one who’s ready to give up. Feigning sickness, she asked Naoki to look at her. Kotoko noticed the strange signals Mari is giving off so she blurted out “Don’t touch other women!” Realizing she made a mistake of letting her jealousy come in the way of Naoki becoming a doctor, Kotoko ran away and found herself lost in the tiny island of Hawaii.

Wow, Itazura na Kiss is getting much better, and I like the sudden fast pace of the story because I want to see more adventures of Naoki and Kotoko as a married couple. There are few touching scenes from episode 13 to 15, but what I liked the most was the part where Naoki angrily told Kotoko that she can’t love another guy but him. That was the best line Naoki could ever to say to her, or the best line any man can say to another woman. As far as I could tell, that wasn’t egoistic, that was plain honesty.
It was also good that there wasn’t much problem in Christine’s or Kin-chan’s side, I mean, everyone knows the two will end up together and it’s just a matter of time. However, it would have been much more entertaining to watch if there was indeed, a conflict among the four. I would love to see some groveling from Naoki. Haha. I thought it’s payback time, after all, Kotoko was the one chasing after him for five years. A few desperate actions from him wouldn’t be bad, eh? Well I could just be contented and be happy that her efforts paid off, but you know, girls sometimes love watching their boys grovel.
On a different note, I’m a bit surprised that Matsumoto doesn’t have much to say in this whole scenario. If you can recall she’s Kotoko’s rival for Naoki’s attention in the earlier episodes, but after Christine stepped in, she’s become Kotoko’s supporter and stalking accomplice. The fact that she and Kotoko rarely hang out together doesn’t justify her sudden change of attitude. But perhaps she realized on her own that Naoki has feelings for Kotoko. Oh well, there’s no use in making assumptions about a side character. I just feel a little disappointed because she has such a strong personality to be cast aside.
In view of all 3 episodes, I can say that the direction of this show has improved a lot, and I’m rather glad that I didn’t completely neglect it for another. Since I’ve already caught up with the latest subbed episode, I think I’ll be able to manage to actively write about this anime in the coming weeks.

okay, the anime adaptation is so far getting really better. I love it… but but BUT!
they omitted a lot of stories in the plot! Christine’s not the one engaged to Naoki in the original manga and tw-drama. She’s supposed to be just an exchange student who’s looking for a Japanese boyfriend.
and I’m very disappointed that they even didn’t show Naoki’s jealousy when he found out about Kotoko and Kin-chan’s “engagement”. If they actually did, well I didn’t feel it.
and with Kotoko’s decision to become a nurse, argh, they skipped a very good side story. Actually, she decided to become a teacher at first, her OJT was to teach at Yuki’s class.. It was really funny~~ but she failed that and even didn’t graduate. A lot of things happened (like running away from home and Yuki saving her and stuff) then she decided to become a nurse~~~
about matsumoto, there was actually a confrontation in the manga/tw-drama. Naoki straightly rejected her, saying that he’s already in love with someone else and that he already kissed her. lol
Haha, too bad the manga scanation release is so slow so I suggest that you watch the tw-drama.
Woah, that’s a little inconsiderate of them to exclude those interesting events. I suppose the Drama made a better adaptation of the manga. I’ll try to squeeze it with all the other pending Dramas and Anime I have to watch this season. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
or… they’ll just rumble the story’s timeline. Don’t know but with 10 or 11 episodes left, I doubt since the nurse arc (or whatever you can call it) has a lot of very interesting events. Yay for new characters~ ♥
