“Each girl is born to meet her own destined one.”


Itazura na Kiss began airing on April 4, 2008 at TBS. This new anime series is based on Kaoru Tada’s unfinished manga of the same title.

It was love at first sight for Kotoko Aihara. Naoki Irie is good-looking, smart and cool: everything an ordinary girl could hope for. Two years later, she decided to confess. Kotoko poured all her feelings to a simple letter but when she finally handed it over to Naoki, he merely looked at her with disdain and said, “I don’t want it.”

Kotoko became the school’s laughingstock. Indeed, why would a girl like her, all the way from Class-F, believe that she has a chance of love with the smartest guy in school? She might as well dig up her own grave, walking up to Naoki like that.

But the day was far from over. Not only did she receive the worst rejection of all time, but her house was destroyed by an earthquake a few hours later, while she and her father were celebrating on their supposedly new home.


“That’s too cruel.”

The next day, Kotoko was once more the hot topic of the school. “Really, an earthquake of intensity 2 can destroy a house?” Apparently, yes, but only Kotoko’s house.

And then, her father’s friend had the grandest idea. “Why don’t you live with us?” Shigeo Aihara accepted the offer without hesitation. That night, Kotoko and her father moved in to their new house. And guess who welcomed them in the doorway?

No other than Naoki himself.

***I like the pace of the first episode; it pretty much covered the over-all background story of the series: Girl likes Boy, Boy hates Girl, Girl and Boy living together. I was just a little bit concerned on the animation of Naoki. He looks like a nasty villain from a hentai series. If I have to be specific, I’d say it’d be Fallen Angel Rina. Also, what happened to Kotoko? She looks fat, definitely different from the promo image in the website. On a different note, I like the OP and ED themes. GO!GO!7188’s music sounds fun.

I’m really excited on the development of this series. I’ve never seen the live action, nor the Taiwanese drama “It Started with a Kiss“. I didn’t read the manga either.. so I’m putting all my hopes on the anime adaptation. ^^ Download the torrent link here! *Currently uploading this episode for direct download.
